French Doors to a beautiful conservatory in the Blackdown Hills
Nestling in depths of the Blackdown Hills, the oak framed conservatory on the back of this 15th century farmhouse has seen more than 20 years of service. The two sets of French doors had started to show their age and become draughty and difficult to open. The team at Wiveliscombe Joinery were delighted to help by supplying and installing new, like for like solid oak replacements.
Over the years the existing frames had moved out of shape so we took the time to trial fit each set, trimming them to fit perfectly within the existing frames.
During the trial fit we discovered the frames had bowed slightly in the middle, allowing for the possibility of a small draught creeping in even with the new doors tightly shut, so we went the extra mile and supplied and installed additional stop beads, fitted with a draught strip, specifically designed to butt up to the closed doors on the inside face.
We factory applied a single coat of finish to each set , with the client electing to apply further coats in the future.
Our dedicated fitting team endured some pretty cold weather, but the results speak for themselves.
